Old Endings And New Beginnings!!

Hey everyone!! Back in effect!! Summer is over, my daughter is back in Virgina, I am sad ; ;  but that gives me time to post to the blog, and I am getting started for another class for school. So even though days are crazy, I still have time to post!!

So after thinking about it, me and Xilfarth are going to go for a Maat's Cap! Yeah, want to get some type of achievement, so here I go!!

Most of this post is all about leveling...cause thats all I really did :( 



Here I am on Pally, and leveling SCH with Xil when he isn't on... Pally is told to be an easy and cheap job to level, and I know I won't put any big bucks in it yet so here we go!!



Armed with my trusty PL, I run around killing anything in the dunes!

Pretty much was partying with this Khuse person and with that new Field Manual crap now plus Level Sync, there really isn't anyway you can't get good XP fast now days. I quickly leveled from 14-22 fast!



Cool thing is unless your in a hurry to get out of the noob dunes, you can stick around a bit till you get a nice 20 buffer or whatnot...



This Regime fighting thing is awesome...man I love when SE does good updates... but of course, right?

So me and Xil finally got a chance to level on sch and thf, which he is currently leveling... he put together this party, syncd to lvl 40 and headed out to East-Altep.



I must say, I had a blast... with the field manual right at the Outpost, we killed Manticores and Gobs for great XP, plus getting a nice bonus from the Reigme battle, plus some nice Taru showed up and helped out on PL, which was nice-- cause I took a break!!

Speaking of break, Xil left the party after that and we disbanded. So I told him I would just seek a bit, to catch up my SCH to his THF. I got invited to this party in Qufim Isle. So grabbed Spoltt, and headed out... didn't think it would be any good, but man, it was better than Eastern! Quickly grabbed my lvl 50 before I had to disband and head to sleep..



Haven't really done much but level and I did help out Rears..... what fun :(

Off to fight some jailers in the Garden,  but before I continue-- I just want to say that one thing for true, even though we lost-- IT WAS all fun!!! I think I speak for everyone there when I say we had a great time.  Sometimes its not just about getting items, its about having a good time.

I think we have lost that in this game and we don't have FUN with it anymore. ITS JUST A GAME PEOPLE!! Remember that!!! If your not having fun, then its just work... and we all know work sucks.

So after a couple of deaths on Jailer of Fort, we decided to do a Jailer of Faith, Kuro came up for this, and we still had fun... dying!!

Well thats it for the week, don't really have any funnies, but I do have some item shots for two people, HM just did Odin #22, and let loose some good drops for people, too bad I only was on enough to grab ONE photo... yah. JUST ONE.

I did have time to put together our Player of the Week... this one goes to Miraun!!!!

A casual guy, this taru has been around for a long time on Phoenix server. With a Doctorates in Dragoon and Summoner, he knows all he needs to know to get the job done! When it comes to DD damage, again-- I say, don't let the taru fool you! He stays on top leads of the parse dealing massive damage and making you rethink your strategy. With out further adue, I present,  Miraun of Phoenix!!!



1. So What Nicknames do you go by?

Mir, Mira Nothing too special. Been called Moron by some unimaginative rival linkshells in the day.

2. Favorite Event(s)?

Salvage and Einherjar, by far.

3. Least Favorite Event(s)?

Sky, Dynamis, HNM Camps

4. You have been heard to being the Master of Summoner and Dragoon, do you think thats true?

Dragoon, definitely.  Summoner is a much more complex job now that the tier 2 blood pacts are actually worthwhile.  There are many debates on the new 'best' way to merit and maximize your potential as a Summoner, and unfortunately, even with only 5 jobs at 75, I haven't had the time to fully experiment with multiple unique merit builds the way I want.



5. Is there a piece of gear or weapon that you are trying to obtain?

Ares's Hands are the last piece I need for the Ares's Cuirass Set.  Completion of the set should net me an increase my Dragoon's damage per minute by approximately 1.5%.  Yes, I have all the math handy for such assessments.

Valkyrie's Fork has become an item that I've given up on.  After 20 Odin kills, only seeing one drop, (much drama over that 1 which I am not going into), I've begun on Gugniir instead.

Alexandrites are scarce/nonexistent on Phoenix server.  I've been shouting for Alexandrites to work on a mythic from day 1.  Even daily shouts, which I'm sure EVERY reader here has seen me do, yields very few alexandrites towards Nirvana.

6. If you had to start over to level 1, what would you do different?

If I was forced to start over, I likely wouldn't start again!  FFXI is not a very friendly environment towards a new player in such a mature player base.  There's no way I would likely ever get back to where I am now.

7. Besides FFXI, do you play any other MMORPG?

I have played most of them.  I played WoW for a few months after each expansion, and am currently the owner of a level 80 Mage from Wrath, and a level 70 Mage from BC... Distinct charactars... Interestingly both master fisherman who had won the fishing contest in STV twice each... Too bad fishing in FFXI sucks by comparison!

I played LOTRO, where I was an lolElfHunter... Along with 90% of the server.  Of course, I played that just to play with my roomates from college.

I also played/am playing Gemstone 4, a text based RPG... Unlike WoW, FFXI, and even LOTRO, you don't see people writing lulz, rofl, smileys and whatnot.  It's a better way to get away.  A lot more GM involvement in terms of random stories and plot lines involving the game as well.  It's also a game you can log into for 5 minutes and accomplish something, a nice change of pace at times.



8. If you could change your race, would you change it? or stay the same?

Hell no.  No way in hell I'd change from being a taru.  Being top DD in Einherjar?  Meh.  Being the top DD as a taru?  Awesomer.  Groping a mithra or elvaan/hume girl?  Disgusting.  Groping a mithra or elvaan/hume girl as a taru?  Cute!

9. chicken or beef?

Depends on my mood, but you can never go wrong with beef.

10. Any information you would like to give the new summoners out there?

Anybody can be a summoner.  The job doesn't REQUIRE any gear to be DECENT.  If you want to be GOOD, it's going to take a lot of time and energy.  The job really starts at 75.  Once there, go ahead and make yourself the following gearsets:  If you don't understand the purpose of each one,
1)  BP delay reduction
2)  Physical Blood Pact Gear
3)  Magical Blood Pact Gear
4)  Summoning magic skill Gear
5)  Resting Gear
6)  Fast Cast / -Emnity gear
7)  Dark Magic gear


11.  Any epic stories to tell?

I had no intention of leveling DRG.  A friend of mine who was playing a Taru DRG/WHM, and she was intent on soloing to 75.  She was also a taru.  When she left the game, she left me everything, including her Leaping Boots and Emperor's Hairpin, which were amazing at the time.  The condition to me obtaining her stuff when she left:  I needed to promise to her to make the best taru DRG in the world.

Miraun has been a Co-Leader in HM for years. For information on DRG or SMN, he has no problem helping improve players game play on these jobs if asked. Though Mir is very cool-headed, he can get fired up when you can't get the job done, especially if he knows you have the potential. Also Armed to play PLD and the ever-loving PUP (which I am kinda shocked no pics) Miraun can adjust to every situation thrown at him. All-in-All, Miraun is great Taru to have on your side.

hey everyone!! Long time!!!

I have a second job now, plus I am in school, and my daughter is in town, so this won't be my usual update, but I have gotten asked to update the blog, so I shall... with RANDOMNESS!!

First... I have been playing with DAT files, so I did a remake of my Slicky!! Check it out!!

so lets see....

In prep for PW, I got some merits and XP parties for people to get a nice buffer to boot! I got a hell of a nice party with Ala, Caff, Jud, Alusair and some others.



I know what your looking at.....

Matter of fact, it was a pretty nice party... left with 6 merits and capped XP of course!



We wrapped it up about right here, I think we were going 2 straight hours non-stop? Not sure about the time, cause my parser stopped working :(

We tried to get Edwina some boots from the Ol' Simurgh , Last time we camped it, LS's were everywhere!

this time we were alone!



So I joined Edwina and the crew and dispatched to Rolanberry fields. After about 30 mins into the window, he pops up..



So we take him down, on the spot. I think Edwina was in the shower when he spawned, so she said after the battle, she was still dripping wet... HMMMMMMM...



Unfortunately, Sim is a fag today and fails to drop the needed boots.... yes Moose, /comfort :(

Did some meriting again on BLM to get a merit or two, but couldn't play 2 long because I was at work. . . . So I had to leave the grp, but not before this!!



Yes it was Ice Day but who give a flying flip! I still haven't hit this high here before... and yes it was on a Automaton, so fugging what??!

I also helped Poss with farming his Obi's needed for PW, which of course you see in this shot, he is no where to be found. Alk came to help later and brought his noob Mule to sing some songs for us....eventually we just disbanded, I had to go to work :(

Then PW. I didn't get any pictures, because of course I wasn't there, but I heard it was an intense fight. Even though we lost, we still go some GREAT experience and learned some new things about the mob that we didn't know before. Well that's it for now, I know it wasn't much of nothing, I mean no player of the week, no MTV cribs for the mog house, but you can blame Xil for that, and not too much else. I haven't been on, but that doesn't mean I ain't out!

This was kinda funny, Blade accidentally went up a floor instead of zoning out after boss, the next floor turned out to be a free floor, so it was all good. Laughed at this a bit!
